Living with Us

Find out about our policies, browse our residence guide and learn about the standards we promote in our communities.

Find practical information in the Residence Guide, report an issue via the Accommodation Support Form, or contact your RA or Community Team.

Read the Residence Guide to prepare for life in your accommodation. Check your email for a welcome letter for key collection and arrival information.

We welcome contact from parents and supporters. You can reach our central team at reslife@ed.ac.uk or on +44 (0) 131 651 2004 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm). We cannot always share details about a resident's situation, but we always act on information shared with us.

Our aim is that everyone has an excellent experience while living with us.

We support our residents through three things: organising activities that build community and promote wellbeing; being here to listen and offer guidance when things are difficult; and connecting residents with the right services across the University when they need more specialist support.

Our team lives and works alongside you in accommodation. They know the communities, the rhythms of the year, and the common challenges students face. You are never far from someone who can help.

Learn more about the support available in our accommodation in this short interview with Margaret and Paul, our Wellbeing Advisers.

We also expect you to maintain a respectful community and we are here to assist with any issues that arise in our accommodation. This often involves advice on addressing issues, providing reminders and education on guidance, tips on communal living and wellbeing support. Where appropriate, such as breaches of lease, policy or fire safety this may also include escalation under the University's Code of Student Conduct.

Living in University accommodation means being part of a community with shared expectations. This page explains the key policies and guidelines that apply to you as a resident.
